A Two-Layer Near-Optimal Strategy for Substation Constraint Management via Home Batteries

Within electrical distribution networks, substation constraint management requires that aggregated power demand from residential users is kept within suitable bounds. Efficiency of can be measured as the reduction violations w.r.t. unmanaged demand. Home batteries hold promise enabling efficient and user-oblivious management. Centralized control home would achieve optimal efficiency. However, it hardly acceptable by users, since service providers (e.g., utilities or aggregators) directly at user premises. Unfortunately, devising hierarchical strategies, thus overcoming above problem, far easy. In this article, we present a novel two-layer strategy for avoids direct devices provider same time yields near-optimal Our simulation results on field data 62 households in Denmark show efficiency achieved with our approach least 82% one obtained theoretical centralized strategy.
